About District 3 Innovation Center

As one of the largest entrepreneurial hubs in Montreal, District 3—a university-hosted incubator and accelerator—enables entrepreneurs, researchers and students to make a dent in the world. By animating a collaborative ecosystem, District 3 puts the necessary tools, resources and knowledge in the hands of entrepreneurs, researchers and students to develop their startup, commercialize their research, or work on innovation projects.


District 3 is looking for a Marketing & Communications Intern

District 3 is looking for a student or recent graduate who wants to expand their knowledge, develop new skills, and gain real-world experience in marketing and communications. The ideal candidate is seeking to get involved in the startup community and has an interest in learning marketing and communications strategies, tactics, and methodologies.

This person must have excellent writing skills, is organized, and is looking to complement his/her education to pursue a career in marketing and communications. A reference letter will be provided at the end of the internship commitment period.


Position Purpose

The intern will assist District 3’s Marketing and Communications Team in their marketing campaigns efforts.


The Intern will assist with:

– Gathering and writing compelling content for weekly and monthly newsletters

– Website copywriting, proofing, and updating as needed

– Social media scheduling and content creation

– Marketing campaign strategy, content, and analysis

– Collecting quantitative and qualitative data from marketing campaigns

– Tracking conversion rates and making improvements

– Monitoring social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram)

– Editorial calendar to ensure content is timely, relevant, and engaging

– Events & workshops by:

   – Writing event content and descriptions

   – Setting up events page and analytics

   – Promoting on our marketing channels

   – Assisting with event logistics

– Writing, editing and proofreading content

– Responding to online inquiries from our community


Skills & Experience Required

– This is an entry level position open to all 

– Candidates in the process of attaining a degree are welcome

– Ability to take initiative, employ good judgment, and manage projects from beginning to end

– Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English is crucial

– Understands emerging platforms, digital media, and web/social media management and measurement tools

– Exceptional ability to manage details

– Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

– Ability to meet deadlines and to anticipate next steps or needs

– Work effectively both independently and as part of a team

– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

– Writing proficiency in French is an asset

– Interest in business and entrepreneurship is an asset

– Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations is an asset



– Become proficient in developing digital marketing campaigns and content marketing

– Interact with driven entrepreneurs, researchers, and students

– Be at the forefront of marketing strategies and analytics
